I only keep this installed to make and receive google talk calls with my iPad. It does this task ok (and its pretty much the only iPad app that does), but its chat capability makes me wish I could get rid of it. It appears to be nearly abandoned by the devs, so I am reluctant to make a recurring purchase to get rid of the ads. The worst part is that the banner-ads are placed so that they are very easy to accidentally touch. This is especially problematic when typing in chats—if you miss the top row by a millimeter or two, you accidentally brush the banner-ad and get whisked away to the App Store. When you come back, you have to re-type whatever you were working on, while your chat partner gets impatient. Furthermore, the app demands clunky user interaction when its not needed. I have to click on a conversation or missed call multiple times to get its badge to go away, sometimes causing me to inadvertently call back. I spend more time babysitting this apps broken notification system than I do actually using it for its purpose. The recurring price to remove the ads would be worth considering, but there have been no usability improvements in the past year. Dont want to contribute money to what feels like an abandoned side project.

This app (like a lot of them) is useless if youre outside of the US.

Does most of what you would want. Sometimes wont send messages to contact with no gmail account. But really has saved me time and money :)

Really good app. All calks are free and texting. Only wish that it gave Canadian numbers so I dont have to put 1 every time before i call it.

So far so good. Nice to make free long distance calls. It worked right away much to my surprise. Its useful and dependable and great when you dont have a long distance plan. I recommend it.

Been using talkatone for quite a few years now and I love it.

I like Talkatone as a second telephone line. I have used it for years while traveling abroad to call home fir free using wifi, and it has improved by now having a line that others can call me. Almost always good reception!

App layout is simple and is easy to navigate. Calling time is based on credits you buy, and you get a few free minutes to start. Cannot give 5 stars; I gave a buddy my number and when he sent a text, I didnt get it. When I texted his number, I received a reply. Again, good/above par app.

It wouldnt send a verification code to me because it insisted my phone number isnt valid.

Great reception for an Internet phone. Will be as good as your internet connection. Can earn free credits. You get a phone number, so anyone can call you. Great for saving on long distance cost. Purchasing extra credits is really cheap. I highly recommend it.

So I just got the app so I can call all my friends and that stuff but when I tested it while calling my dad he didnt receive the call, I dont know if it was a bug or not but Ill still give it a good review seeing as its easy to use and message on

I find that I need a fairly strong satellite reception before the call is clear. I have another similar App that almost always outperforms Talkatone when the going gets tough. Im not sure why there would be any difference. Otherwise I like the App. To bad we couldnt have a Canadian number, but it doesnt really affect me that much anyway. Its still a great way to make inexpensive long distance calls to cell or land lines.

This is one the best wifi calling apps ever!! But it would be better if you added Canadian numbers, whenever I call my Frieda sometimes they dont pick up cause of my American number, so please add Canadian numbers
